The Choir of the Cathedral of Adria, in consultation with the parish community
the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, in order to promote
creation and dissemination of a new musical repertoire for liturgical use,
thus helping to renew the dialogue between the Church and the music
contemporary, and in order to pay homage to the figure and work of Maestro Mons. Luigi
Pieressa, announce the Second International Composition Competition Music
Liturgical “Luigi Pieressa”.
The competition uses the patronage of the City of Adria and the Veneto Region.
Participation in the competition is governed by the following
Art. 1 – The competition is open to composers of any nationality and citizenship, without
the age limit, regardless of any title possessed.
Art. 2 – The competition is divided into one section, concerning a
composition for choir to four mixed voices and organ text required (see. Next Art.
3), with the possible implementation of a separate part of the meeting, which will in
any case be involved in the execution of Chorus.
The verses will be two by two melodically and harmonically equal in
all entries (the first verse and the verse 3 that will be the same but different from
verses 2 and 4, equal to each other); the chorus will be melodically and harmonically
always the same in all entries.
The duration of the composition should approximately be not more than 4 minutes and
not less than 2 minutes.
Art. 3 – The works participating in the competition must be made on the following

Art. 4 – Each composer may enter no more than one composition.
Art. 5 – The competitors must send a packet to the Competition Secretary
a. Six (6) copies of the score for choir to four mixed voices and organ (for use of the choir),
with the possible implementation of a separate part of the meeting (ie with
indication of voice choir also use the meeting), it being understood
the obligation of involvement in the execution of this Chorus;
The score, which will not be returned, should be in A4 format, readable, free
of signs or references which may allow the identification of the author; each copy

– Full name of the composer, date and place of birth, nationality;

– A recent photograph;
– Handwritten statement attesting that the composition is unpublished, never
performed or recorded and never awarded in previous competitions;
– Authorization to perform, publish, recording and dissemination of the work;
– Authorization, under Article 13 of Legislative Decree. N. 196/2003, the processing of their
personal data, including sensitive data, provided for participation in the competition,
solely for the purposes of organizing the competition itself;
– Photocopy of identity card.

Failure to comply with any instruction given in this article will result
the exclusion from the contest.
Art. 6 – Participation in the competition is free of charge (not provided the
Payment of the registration fee).
Art. 7 – The Jury, appointed by the Artistic Director and composed of at least 5
(Five) members, will evaluate the works received no holds barred style, on the basis

Art. 8 – At the winning composition, at the discretion of the jury, will be
awarded the trophy “International Composition Competition Luigi Pieressa” and
prize of € 500.00.
In the case of prizes awarded ex aequo the above amount will be split into parts
equally among the winners.
The prize, at the discretion of the Jury, will not be assigned.
Please note that the jury will not proceed to the formation of any list and that,
once determined the winner of the competition, he will proceed to the opening of the single envelope
containing general information and address of the winner himself, while all the other envelopes
They will be destroyed.
The only exception to this procedure will be allowed, as well as in the presence of a draw in
If more compositions, not declared winners, the jury considered
nonetheless worthy of mention.
Art. 9 – The winning composition will be performed, premiered, the Choir
Polyphonic Cathedral of Adria, on the occasion of the 24th edition of the Meeting
Choral Mariano to be held in the Cathedral Church of Adria in the month of May 2016.
On this occasion there will also be an award ceremony.
The winning composition will be performed, printed, recorded or transmitted
before the award and execution to avoid losing the status of winner
and the prize.
Art. 10 – The results will be announced by the end of March 2016 through the website
the Cathedral of Adria and the facebook page corocattedraleadria.
The winner will be contacted immediately by phone.
Art. 11 – The application for participation in the competition by sending the composition
It implies the unconditional acceptance by the candidate of all the rules
laid down in this Regulation.
Art. 12 – The Artistic Directors reserve the right to make these Regulations all
changes deemed necessary and also not to carry out the competition if
They should occur due to force majeure, excluding any compensation
any capacity to competitors.
